I just started reading Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg. I see my self in almost every chapter I've read so far. The book was recommended to me by a writing teacher I had a couple of years ago. The book has really helped me to identify what is essential to my story. For anyone looking for a good book on writing, I recommend this book. 

I'm continuing to build on my characters and storyline. One of my characters in particular has taken a surprising turn. I thought I knew who he was and where he was headed but he decided to go in another direction. I'm curious about where he is headed. Of course, I plan on following him. Who knows where he'll end up.
