I'm over 20 pages into my novel. I found a scene I wrote for a writing class a couple of years ago that will fit nicely into my story. I've started to fill in the back story on a secondary character I added to the story. My secondary character had a troubled childhood which is something he has in common with my main character. I think some interesting adventures await them. Stay tuned...

It's been a couple of days since I wrote anything new for my novel. I have many ideas swirling around in my head that I plan to put down on paper. I'm not sure my characters will follow my lead. Sometimes they like to go off in another direction. That's okay because they take me to some interesting places and situations.
In addition to Natalie Goldberg's book on my last post, I also read Stephen King's book On Writing. I try to look for inspiration from established writers whenever I can. I hope to find another writing class within the next few months. Writing classes keep me focused and improve my writing.
Well, I need to get back to my book. Stay tuned...

I just started reading Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg. I see my self in almost every chapter I've read so far. The book was recommended to me by a writing teacher I had a couple of years ago. The book has really helped me to identify what is essential to my story. For anyone looking for a good book on writing, I recommend this book.
I'm continuing to build on my characters and storyline. One of my characters in particular has taken a surprising turn. I thought I knew who he was and where he was headed but he decided to go in another direction. I'm curious about where he is headed. Of course, I plan on following him. Who knows where he'll end up. Stay tuned...

Today is a good day. I just wrote another page for my novel. I just introduced a new character that will be integral to the plot. He is going to have a major impact on my main character. Their first meeting is a little rocky so I don't know if his presence will be good or bad. I follow my characters wherever they lead me. As I always say, I can't wait to find out what happens next. Stay tuned ...

I was just wrote a scene for my novel. I try to keep pen and paper handy because I never know when I'll think of a good scene and dialogue. The scene I just wrote will take place in the middle of the book. I hope the words keep coming. Stay tuned ...

Well, my main character is finally taking shape. She is a bright, fearless young woman. I don't outline my stories or define my characters before I write. I like for them to find their own way as I write. I can't wait to find out where the story leads her.

Well, I have finally decided to write the book that has been hidden inside of me since I discovered my love of writing at 12 years old. It's a little scary starring at a blank page and it has been more difficult than I thought to get the story in my head onto the page. I'm sure any budding writer who reads this will be able to relate. I will not let what I'm sure is a temporary difficultly discourage me from writing. I will follow the advice I have always heard from established writers...Write Anything! So, I decided to start this blog. If anyone reading this can relate, feel free to post your experience.
